The history of the Szekszard Printing House dates back to 1858, when Lajos Ujfalussy founded the Ujfalussy Printing House in Szekszárd. The printing house was already nationally known at that time, as is evidenced by the fact that the yearbook and guidebook published in 1888 makes special mention of its activities.
In 1900, Mór Molnár took over the management and under his leadership the printing house continued to develop, becoming particularly well known for the production of calendars.
Throughout its history, the printing house has faced many challenges, including economic depression, wartime and nationalization. But despite the difficulties, the printing house survived and continued to operate under the name Szekszard Printing House from 1955.
By the end of the 1980s, the production of calendars accounted for more than 60% of the total production. In 1989, major improvements in the bindery department were made, which allowed for more efficient and higher quality production.
The 1990s marked a turning point in the company’s life when it was privatized and became a printing company limited by shares. This period saw a significant increase in the volume of book production, which brought with it new technological developments. In the process, both the printing department and the machinery in the bindery were renewed and expanded.
Today, Szekszard Printing House Ltd. has become a leading player in the domestic black-and-white and colour book production. It continues to strive for continuous improvements, high quality, reliability and meeting delivery deadlines.
